Tired of Feeling Like a Failure?Nov 25, 2023
Feeling frustrated? Like you've tried so many things but you're still not seeing the results that you've been working so hard to achieve? I understand - I spent years trying everything under the sun to get my physical body in order, to conquer my depression and anxiety, and to have a life that felt fulfilling and purposeful.
For a long time I felt incredibly unsuccessful, I'd take two or three steps forward and then I'd lose motivation, fall back into old patterns, and wallow in my failure and all the things that I thought were wrong with me.
So how did I get to where I am now? Don't get me wrong, I still have my moments and I'm far from perfect or satisfied but there is a deeper sense of certainty and confidence that colors my self-perception.
To me, success became intrinsically tied with the journey, how I showed up, what I learned, and the efforts I made. Over time it has become less and less associated with what I actually accomplish and more about how I feel throughout the process.
What does that mean from a practical perspective though? It means that I take ownership of my mental health, my physical wellbeing, my actions and I recognize that everything I have in my life is a direct result of the choices I make.
I measure my success based on one question:
"Is this choice and action in alignment with who I am and is it allowing me to embody the most authentic, balanced, successful version of myself?"
We are a success every time we choose thoughts that empower us, foods that nourish us, movements that strengthen us, relationships that support us, environments that comfort us, and careers that fill us with purpose.
In this way, we don't have to wait to be successful because success is dependent entirely on the choices we make, both grand and small, every single day.
